About Me
Hi, I'm Dan, and I've been heading down the road to creating Tolkien themed content online for quite a while now. I was introduced to Tolkien through the Lord of the Rings films and The Hobbit book when I was... well you know I actually can't remember now, but I was barely old enough to form memories, let's put it that way.

Although I was introduced to this world by the films at the same time as some of Tolkien's books, I hold special recognition for both. Now, having spent a lot of time studying Tolkien's extended work and life, I do miss many of those things that were missed or changed in the films, but many not to the blood boiling anger of a lot of people in these circles - BUT, I do hold a special spot of hatred in my soul for The Couple who shall not be named because, well, don't even get me started on that genuine betrayal of all of the deeper lore of Tolkien's universe (I'll get there in a post someday!)

I got hugely off topic there, but I just wanted to reassure those of you who may have only seen the films, or may be a purist for the published texts, that there is a place for you here; the door is always open and you're welcome to come in for supper.
This podcast and blog aims to bring new fans to Tolkien's world in without gatekeeping and make the vast mines of information more accessible to newcomers.
I write a lot in my spare time, and study filmmaking too, so I have a very visual sense for storytelling, which I also want to explore through this platform, whether related to Tolkien or exploring related avenues. I'm a huge enthusiast of history of all kinds, although focusing primarily in the early-mid Medieval period, so there is a chance that I will be making posts or episodes revolving around history in relation to Tolkien's works, or bringing historical context into those more visually based explorations of Tolkien's world.

I know this seems like a huge range of stuff, but I really want to give new fans a well-rounded view and context for Tolkien's hugely detailed body of work, and to make it easier for those who want to know more with regards to understanding how and why he constructed his world in the way that he did. It's going to seem like a lot, but I'm hoping that I can organise everything so it's easy to jump from one thing to the next.
